I have the Evo 4G for Sprint. I love the Android platform. I have friends who use and love it too on their various Android phones on various carriers. And we all agree on one thing. The Facebook app is terrible.
Most of the time I open it, it cannot connect to servers and update. It tells me, “No content.” Which is impossible since my friends and business pages don’t stop for anything.
It hasn’t been updated in forever, so it doesn’t know about Groups. I can’t access my secret group. Oh there are a zillion things it doesn’t do, and if you use it, you already know about this.
I can’t imagine that mobile is not a priority for Facebook. I can’t imagine that Android is not a priority for Facebook. So I can’t understand why for months, I and others have an app that barely functions. The app has a 3.5-star rating in the Android marketplace, and the comments show that lots of people are frustrated with the lack of function.
Workaround: Force your mobile browser to http://m.facebook.com. I find that the default touch.facebook.com will only show me my news feed by “top stories” and not most recent. Plus other things are missing. The mobile-friendly site seems to eventually get me to just about everything inside Facebook.
